The investment team for the Fund is led by the Fund’s Portfolio Manager, Ed Peter, who has over 35 years of industry experience. Ed is supported by five portfolio managers who collectively bring a wealth of experience on both listed and unlisted agricultural investment.
Duxton’s Investment Committee (IC) holds oversight of the Fund investment team, with membership of the IC comprising Duxton’s Chief Operating Officer (Chair), Group Chairman, CEO, Portfolio Managers and Duxton’s Head of Legal, Governance and Reporting with 180 years combined experience.
Ed Peter
Chairman of the Board & DDAF Portfolio ManagerEd Peter is the Group Chairman of Duxton Asset Management (“Duxton”). Prior to forming Duxton in 2009, Ed was Head of Deutsche Asset Management Asia Pacific (“DeAM Asia”), Middle East & North Africa. He was also a member of the Deutsche Bank’s (DB) Group Equity Operating Committee and Asset Management Operating Committee. Ed joined DB in 1999 as Head of Equities and Branch Manager of DB Switzerland. In March 2001, Ed moved to Hong Kong with Deutsche Bank and was appointed Head of Global Equities for Asia and Australia, becoming responsible for all of Global Emerging Markets Equities in the beginning of 2003. In November 2004, Ed became Head of Asian and Emerging Market Equities for the new Global Markets Division. Ed started his career in 1986 in Swiss equity sales for Credit Suisse in Geneva. In 1989, he moved to S.G. Warburg with responsibility for the sale of Swiss equities worldwide. In 1998, he was appointed Managing Director with responsibility for the International Swiss Equities and Derivatives sales force. Mr Peter holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Ed’s first foray into Agricultural investing was in 1999 and he remains passionately interested in Agriculture today. He is on the University of Adelaide’s Agribusiness advisory board and the University of Adelaide’s Wine Advisory board.
James Shopov
DDAF Supporting Portfolio ManagerJames Shopov is the Portfolio Manager for Duxton’s unlisted companies: Duxton Orchards, Duxton Nuts, Duxton Bees, Duxton Dried Fruits, and Duxton Dairies (Cobram). He supports Ed Peter as the Fund’s overarching Portfolio Manager. James graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Commerce (Corporate Finance and Accounting) degree and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) since 2014. Prior to joining Duxton, James worked in the Corporate Finance team at Ernst & Young for 3 years, gaining exposure to valuations and business modelling, mergers and acquisitions and transaction due diligence. James also worked in audit at Deloitte for 3 years prior to joining Ernst & Young.
Will Brennan
Direct Agriculture Portfolio ManagerWill Brennan is the Portfolio Manager for Duxton’s listed company, Duxton Broadacre Farms, and unlisted companies: Duxton Vineyards, and Duxton Pubs. In addition Will is a member of Duxton’s Investment Committee. With a team of five investment analysts working alongside him, Will’s key responsibilities involve the identification, negotiation and execution of investment opportunities, providing ongoing project oversight, and working closely with key stakeholders in developing and implementing strategy objectives. Prior to joining Duxton, Will worked in both insolvency and tax accounting. Will holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Adelaide and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter holder.
Kelvin Tan
Global Listed Equities Portfolio ManagerKelvin Tan joined Duxton in June 2017 as a member of Duxton’s Asian Equities team. Mr Tan is currently the Portfolio Manager for the global listed equities sub-portfolio of the Duxton Diversified Agriculture Fund and Portfolio Manager for the Vietnam Phoenix Fund (VPF) . He has experience in both buy and sell side, listed & unlisted investments, including the successful divestment of a $150M USD private equity portfolio based in Vietnam. Mr Tan has also worked as Deputy Group CEO and Director for Straits Wine Company. He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts and Social Science (Economics) and a Diploma in Business Studies.
Vu Thu Ha
Global Listed Equities Portfolio ManagerVu Thu Ha joined Duxton in January 2019 and is currently the Lead Portfolio Manager for the Vietnam Phoenix Fund. Ha has more than 5 years of experience in sell-side equity research, focused on the Vietnamese market. Her most recent role was with Ho Chi Minh City Securities-HSC, where she covered Power, Transportation, Logistic and Textile sectors independently between 2016 and 2018. Prior to this, she worked with BIDV Securities Corporation- BSC, where she held equity research responsibilities for Oil& Gas, Transportation, Utility, Chemical, Automobiles and Financial sectors. Education Qualifications: Ms Vu THu graduated with a bachelor degree in Finance and Banking from Vietnam’s Banking Academy. She has also completed her Master’s in Financial Analysis from Latrobe University in Melbourne, Australia since 2013.
Lachlan Cambell
Portfolio Manager - Water Strategy & ResearchLachlan Campbell joined Duxton in April 2017 and is, in conjunction with the Investment Committee, responsible for managing the Water Strategy and Research functions for the Australian Water Entitlements portfolio. His key responsibilities include overseeing all key functions of the business, implementing strategic objectives, developing short and long-term business plans, and driving the corporate development of the business. Prior to joining the Portfolio Management team at Duxton, Lachlan held a number of Accounting and Finance positions over 9 years where he gained valuable experience in financial reporting, corporate taxation, new system implementations, and management accounting for both ASX listed and private entities. Lachlan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of South Australia and is a full member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).
Lachlan Beech
Portfolio Manager - Water TradingLachlan Beech joined Duxton in February 2019. He is, in conjunction with the Investment Committee, responsible for managing the water portfolio and trade functions of the Australian Water Entitlements portfolio. His key responsibilities include overseeing all key functions of the business, the management of trade functions and investment decisions. Prior to joining the Portfolio Management team at Duxton, Lachlan worked as an analyst where he learnt the business from the ground up. Prior to joining Duxton, Lachlan worked at TAFE SA as a Project Officer within their Facilities and Procurement team. Having grown up and worked in the agriculture industry firsthand, Lachlan brings a diverse agricultural background to Duxton. Lachlan holds a double bachelor's in a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) & Bachelor of Business (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) from the University of South Australia.
